A new report by TeamLease Services reveals that the sector is set to witness a net employment growth of 7.21% in the first half of the fiscal year 2025.

Job hunting? Banking sector leads charge with 7.2% net employment growth

The power and energy sector in India is projected to see a 9.01% workforce growth in the first half of 2024-25, driven by government initiatives towards a low-carbon future, according to a TeamLease Services report. The report indicates that 62% of organizations plan to expand their workforce, with Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai leading in job locations.

Teamlease’s Employment Outlook Report | Higher Hiring In Store In H2FY24? | Ramani Dathi Explains

I.T. companies, the largest hirers in India, reported their sharpest fall in headcount in Q2FY24. The top four I.T. companies- TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCLTech reported nearly 22,000 lower headcount between them. Moreover, TCS and Infosys indicated that headcount will fall in the current quarter i.e. Q3 as well. Several I.T. companies have said that they see more headcount cuts in Q3 and added that they will not go to campuses this year for hiring. Is the lower hiring only an I.T. sector issue or are the other sectors also slackening the pace of job creation? Although India had 40,000 job openings for cybersecurity professionals as of May 2023, 30% of these vacancies could not be filled due to huge skill shortage, reported TeamLease Digital, a subsidiary of TeamLease Services.
