Puri expects the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry to bounce back by volume sales growth from the next fiscal year, led by rural demand, with early signs of recovery already visible. Puri said the revival will be accelerated, with inflation cooling down and product prices correcting.

Shares of cigarette and tobacco companies--ITC and VST Industries traded in green after  the government capped the maximum rate of GST compensation cess. The capping of the cess rate was brought in as part of the amendments to the Finance Bill, 2023, passed by the Lok Sabha on March 24.
