HEG has incorporated a Wholly Owned Subsidiary Company – TACC, that would manufacture graphite anode for Lithium-ion cells and for research. The company plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore in two phases over the next 5-7 years. With the capacity of cell manufacturing to go up to 20-22 MWH. The electrode prices are up 11 percent from September lows, and metal demand is expected to go up as China re-opens. Indian government's PLI scheme mandates 60% domestic value addition for cell production which aids well for graphite electrode manufacturers. The stock of HEG and its peer Graphite India rose by up to 7 percent in the day's trade.
