Jefferies has retained its buy rating on Graphite India with a revised target price of Rs 565 per share and HEG with a revised target price of Rs 1760 per share. They have cut their EPS estimates by 4-8%. Input cost Pressures (needle coke, energy, freight, etc) and Volatility in commodities are the primary reasons for this revision in EPS estimates by Jefferies. In Q4FY22, demand moderation was globally impacted by geopolitical crisis and supply-chain constraints. Graphite India & HEG's India production was retained at a 90% utilization level. Price hikes were healthy at +12% QoQ in Q4FY22. HEG management expects a further +5% QoQ hike in the next 2-3 quarters. In the production of steel via EAF, carbon emission is lower by ~4x vs. blast furnace (Graphite electrodes are the main heating element used in an electric arc furnace). As per HEG management, 30-35mnT of new EAF capacity could be commissioned in the USA & Europe over the next few years
