Bajaj Hindusthan sugar rose more than 9% on Thursday at BSE after ET Now newsbreak got confirmed that State Bank of India has decided to withdraw insolvency petition against sugar company. ET Now had earlier reported on October 17 that largest lender is planning to move inslovency court for withdrawing its petition under section 7 of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has dismissed the petition against Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar after analysing submissions made by the State Bank of India (SBI) for withdrawal of the petition. The SBI filed the petition for withdrawal of the original petition as the outstanding amount had been paid by Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, which is one of the largest sugar producers in the country. In a rare kind of instance the lender has taken a complete U turn within one year of filing the petition. Last year, in 2022 the largest lender had taken the sugar company to NCLT due to unpaid dues of over Rs 4,600 Cr. SBI is said to have largest exposure of over Rs 1,200 Cr in Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar.
